I’ve moved into a co-working space!

Yes, it’s official: I’m no longer a person who works from home. I’m now an Entrepreneur operating out of a co-working space. It sounds a lot more official and professional, doesn’t it? That’s because… well… it is.

I’ve only been in this co-working space for a few days, but have already noticed a huge change in both my mood and productivity. Getting out of the house, waking up at a decent time, commuting into the city: it’s been literally years since I’ve had to do any of those things, and it’s kind of refreshing to be doing them again. And now I’m in a completely new country, on a completely different continent. So everything—not just the office—is new to me.

I’m sure I’ll make a lot of observations about the differences between Canadian and Swedish work culture as time goes on. My first observation is this: Swedes know how to take a coffee break. And my new office is right next to a coffee factory, so you know the coffee in the office is excellent.

I’ll admit, there are some real benefits to working from home: no rent, no dress code, the ability to work & do laundry at the same time. And I’ve been decently productive working from home. But I’ve realized that if I want to be really serious about my business, I need a more formal office setting. I need the structure… and I need the social interaction too.

So, Karlstad, thank you for the warm welcome! I look forward to working with you. 🙂

  1. Yup, People contact, I hear you. Brave move on your part. Co-working spaces are proliferating here in Victoria too. Here’s a brief sampling:
